Without urgent catheterisation to close the vessels, severe and permanent lung damage will occur.

Born prematurely in Royapuram, Chennai, four-month-old Hariharan V T has been fighting for his life since his very first breath. Arriving early at a government hospital, he was immediately admitted to special care and spent his first 12 days in an incubator. At just one month old, during a routine medical review, his parents received the terrifying news that their newborn was suffering from Congenital Heart Disease. His critical condition was later confirmed during a free cardiac screening camp conducted by MIOT Hospitals at Stanley Government Hospital, leading to his urgent referral for advanced pediatric care.

Detailed clinical evaluations at MIOT Hospitals revealed that Hariharan is battling a rare and complex combination of structural heart and lung defects. He has been diagnosed with Scimitar Syndrome PAPVC, an underdeveloped (hypoplastic) right lung, an abnormal aortopulmonary collateral vessel, and a moderate-sized Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA). This dangerous combination causes abnormal blood flow, forcing high fluid pressure into his fragile lungs and placing continuous strain on his cardiovascular system. To stabilize his condition and prevent permanent lung damage, expert pediatric cardiologists have advised immediate intervention: a specialized cardiac catheterization procedure to occlude the abnormal vessel and close the PDA.

The total cost for Hariharan’s procedure, pediatric ICU care, hospital stay, and post-operative medications is ₹3,00,000/-. His father, Mr. Thirunavukarasu, works as a hostel reception assistant earning a modest income of ₹27,000 per month. As the sole breadwinner already struggling with daily household expenses, arranging such a sum on short notice is impossible. The family is helpless and desperately appealing to generous donors for financial support to help fund little Hariharan's life-saving treatment and give him the chance to grow up healthy.
