What we ask you for, why we need it, who else ever sees it, and how to have it corrected or removed. Written to be read, not to be survived.

The short version
- We never sell your details
- Not to another charity, not to a list broker, not to anybody. We share only with the people who help us deliver — and only what they need.
- We never see your card
- Payments run on Razorpay. Your card, UPI or netbanking credentials go to them, not to us. We are told the payment succeeded, and nothing more.
- You can have it removed
- Email us and we will delete what we hold, except the donation records that tax and foreign-contribution law requires us to keep.
- Your PAN is optional
- It is asked for only so an 80G receipt can be issued in your name. Skip it and the donation still works.
This box is a summary and nothing more. The clauses below are the policy.
1.Who this policy is from
SaveThem India Foundation is a charitable trust registered in India, founded in Mumbai in 2012. This policy covers savethem.in, the donation pages on it, the live chat on it, and the enquiry forms we run on Facebook and Instagram.
It explains what we collect, why, who else ever sees it, and what you can tell us to do with it. If anything here is unclear, write to support@savethem.in and a person will answer you.
2.What we collect
What you type in yourself. When you give, we ask for your name, WhatsApp number, and optionally your email address, postal address and PAN. Nothing else on the form is required.
What the donation is for. The cause or package, the amount, the quantity, the day it is to be served, and — if you choose to add them — the name to print on the parcel, the occasion it marks, a short message, and a photograph you upload.
What our payment provider tells us. Razorpay processes the payment and returns a reference and a status. We store those. Your card number, UPI ID, CVV and bank credentials never reach our servers.
If you use the live chat.A random device token saved in your browser so a conversation survives a page reload, whatever name or contact detail you give the person you are chatting to, your IP address and your browser's user-agent string.
If you fill in one of our ad forms.Facebook and Instagram lead forms pass us the name, phone number, email and city you entered on Meta's form. We receive those fields and nothing else from your Meta account.
3.Why we hold it
- To do the thing you paid for — cook the meal, print the label with your name on it, and deliver it on the day.
- To send the proof back to you — the photograph of the parcel being handed over, on the WhatsApp number you gave.
- To issue your receipt, and an 80G certificate if you gave us a PAN.
- To answer you when you write, call, or open the chat.
- To tell you what happened next — occasional updates about the work. You can stop these at any time and it will not affect anything else.
- To satisfy the law — income tax, 80G, FCRA and audit obligations that apply to a registered charity in India.
We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not use your donation history to decide what price to show you.
4.Who else sees it
We do not sell or trade your personal information. There is no arrangement under which another organisation receives our donor list.
It goes further than us only in these cases:
- Razorpay, to take the payment and to refund it.
- Our messaging provider, to deliver the WhatsApp receipt and the photograph — it receives your number and the message, not your donation history.
- Our own team, and only the part of it that needs it. The kitchen sees the name to print on a parcel; it does not see what you paid or your PAN.
- Our auditors and the tax authorities, where the law requires it.
- A court or a lawful authority, on a valid order.
Where a partner organisation runs a programme with us, they are given what the delivery needs and are bound to use it for nothing else.
5.Photographs, yours and theirs
The photograph you upload — of the person a donation is dedicated to, say — is printed on that parcel and used for nothing else. It is not put on the website or on social media without asking you first.
The photograph we send back to you shows the parcel being handed over. We photograph the parcel and the moment; we do not pose anybody, and we do not publish a picture of a person we serve alongside details of their circumstances. Anybody in a photograph can ask us to withdraw it and we will.
6.Messages, and how to stop them
Receipts, the delivery photograph and replies to your own questions are transactional — they are the service you asked for, and they are sent whether or not you have opted into anything else.
Updates about the work are optional. Reply STOP to any of them, or write to support@savethem.in, and they end. We do not need a reason and we will not ask for one.
8.How long we keep it
- Donation records, receipts and 80G data are kept for the period Indian tax and FCRA rules require. These we cannot delete on request, and we will tell you so plainly if you ask.
- Enquiries that never became a donation are kept while we are still in touch, and removed when they go cold.
- Live chat transcripts are kept only as long as they are useful for answering you.
- Everything else goes when you ask for it to go.
9.Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may ask us to:
- Show you what we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
- Delete it, other than the records the law makes us keep.
- Withdraw your consent to optional messages, without losing anything you have already paid for.
- Nominate somebody to exercise these rights if you are unable to.
Write to support@savethem.in from the address you gave us, or call 80621 81771. We answer within thirty days, and sooner where we can.
10.Children
The donation pages are meant for adults, and we do not knowingly take personal information from anybody under 18. We do work with children through our programmes — that information is handled under the consent of a parent, a guardian or the partner institution, is never used for fundraising, and is never published in a way that identifies a child.
11.How it is kept safe
The site runs over HTTPS. Access to donor records is restricted by role, so a member of staff sees only what their work needs. Payment credentials are never stored by us at all, because they never arrive.
No system is beyond reach. If a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board what happened, what was exposed, and what we did about it — without waiting to be asked.
12.Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the new version is posted here and the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a change materially affects what we do with information we already hold, we will tell the people it affects rather than relying on them to re-read the page.
13.Contact and grievances
For anything in this policy — a question, a correction, a deletion, or a complaint about how we handled your data — write to support@savethem.in or call 80621 81771.
