Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you — anybody who visits savethem.in, donates through it, books a celebration, volunteers, or writes to us — and SaveThem India Foundation, a charitable trust registered in India and founded in Mumbai in 2012. In this document we are “the Foundation”, “we” or “us”.

The website means savethem.in and every page on it. Our workmeans the programmes we run — food and nutrition, education, healthcare, the environment, animal welfare, women's empowerment and support for the elderly. A donation means a voluntary payment you make towards any of it.

Using the site means you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use it. How we handle your information is a separate document — see our Privacy Policy.

The site is here for lawful, charitable purposes. Please do not use it to:

• Attempt to gain access to any account, server or data that is not yours.
• Test payments with a card or account you are not entitled to use.
• Scrape, copy or republish the site's content or photographs at scale.
• Interfere with the site's working — flooding it, probing it, or uploading anything harmful.
• Impersonate somebody else, or hold yourself out as speaking for the Foundation.

If you find a security flaw, please tell us at support@savethem.in before telling anybody else. We will thank you properly.

A donation is voluntary. Nothing on this site is a purchase of goods or services for yourself, and nothing on it is an investment.

Unlike a general appeal, a donation here buys a specific thing for a specific day — a stated number of meals, parcels or kits under the cause you chose. What is served, how much of it, and on which day are shown to you before you pay, and that is what we undertake to deliver.

Where a cause is over-subscribed, or a programme cannot run for reasons outside our control, we may apply your donation to the closest equivalent work rather than sit on it. We will tell you when we do this. If you would rather it not happen, write to us and we will hold it instead.

The service date you pick is the day we plan to serve. It is a target, not a guarantee. A kitchen buys and cooks against a plan built the day before, and once your donation is in that plan the day is fixed — you will see this on the donation itself.

Weather, a supply failure, a public holiday at the institution we serve, or an emergency elsewhere can move a day. When it moves we serve at the next opportunity and tell you the new date. We do not quietly drop it.

To change a date yourself, write to us before the plan for that day is built. After that it can only move to a later day, not an earlier one.

You may put a name, an occasion and a short message on a parcel, and upload a photograph to go with it. That label is handed to a real family, so:

• It must not be abusive, obscene, political, communal, or an advertisement.
• It must not name a person in a way that shames them or discloses something private about them.
• You must own the photograph, or have the permission of whoever is in it.

We may refuse or edit anything that fails this, and we will tell you why. In the rare case where a donation is refused on these grounds and nothing has yet been cooked, we will refund it in full.

A celebration — a birthday, an anniversary, a remembrance — is booked for a date you choose, at a package you choose. Because these involve arranging a venue, a group and a quantity in advance, they need notice — book a few days ahead where you can. We confirm the date back to you, and we will tell you straight away if it cannot be met.

To move or cancel a booking, tell us before we have committed the spend. Once the arrangements are made, the Refund Policy applies as it does to any other donation.

Payments are taken through Razorpay, a licensed payment gateway. Your card, UPI or netbanking credentials go to them and never to us. A donation is only complete when Razorpay confirms it; a payment that fails or is left half-finished is not a donation and nothing is served against it.

A receipt is issued once payment is confirmed. If you gave us a PAN, an 80G certificate follows within seven working days. The PAN you give must be your own and correct — we cannot reissue a certificate against a PAN that was entered wrongly, and a wrong PAN can cost you the deduction.

Donations from outside India are accepted only through the channels our FCRA registration permits. Please write to us before sending one.

Donations are non-refundable as a rule. Once a day is planned, food is bought and cooked against it, and the money is genuinely spent — a refund at that point takes it from the people it was meant for.

There are narrow exceptions — a duplicate charge, a payment taken for an amount you did not authorise, or a donation we could not serve at all. Those, and how to claim one, are set out in the Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

We do not appoint agents, commission-based collectors or street fundraisers. Nobody is authorised to take cash, ask for a transfer to a personal account, or run a collection in our name without a written authorisation from us.

Give only through savethem.in, or to a bank account we have confirmed to you directly. If somebody approaches you claiming to collect for the Foundation, please call 80621 81771 and check before you give anything.

The text, photographs, design, logo and name on this site belong to the Foundation or to the people who licensed them to us. You may share and quote our pages with attribution. You may not republish them commercially, or use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse something we do not.

What you upload stays yours. By uploading it you give us permission to use it for the donation it belongs to — printing it, and showing it back to you as proof of delivery. We will not use it for publicity without asking you first.

Where we link out — to a payment page, a partner, a news report or a public register — the linked site is run by somebody else, under their own terms and their own privacy practices. We link because it is useful, not because we vouch for everything on the other end, and we are not responsible for what happens there.

The chat on this site is answered by our team during working hours. It is for questions about our work and your donations. Please do not send card numbers, OTPs, passwords or any other credential through it — we will never ask for one, and anybody who does is not us. Anything you write in the chat is handled under our Privacy Policy.

Volunteering with us is unpaid unless we have agreed otherwise in writing, and creates no employment relationship. Volunteers and staff are expected to work honestly, to treat the people we serve with dignity, and to keep what they learn about them confidential. A role may be ended for misconduct.

Where you are given an account on our admin panel, it is yours alone. Do not share the password, and tell us at once if you think it has been used by somebody else. Access ends when the role does.

We build and run this site carefully, but it is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will be available without interruption, that every page is free of error, or that a payment gateway or messaging provider we depend on will always be up. Maintenance may take it offline without notice.

To the extent Indian law permits, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising out of your use of the site. Nothing here limits our liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited — including our obligation to apply your donation to the purpose you gave it for.

If you misuse the site, break these terms, or infringe somebody else's rights through it, you agree to hold the Foundation, its trustees, staff and volunteers harmless against the claims and costs that follow.

We may suspend or withdraw access where these terms are broken, where a payment is fraudulent, or where continuing would put the people we serve at risk. Where the reason is not fraud, we will tell you what happened and give you a way to answer.

We may update these terms. The current version always lives on this page, and the date at the top changes when it does. A change does not affect a donation already made — that stays governed by the terms in force on the day you gave. Where a change matters to you, we will say so rather than rely on you re-reading the page.

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra. Before it comes to that, please write to us — almost everything is settled by somebody actually reading the complaint.
